A raised edge on a sidewalk is a trip hazard. We lift sunken slabs flush with their neighbors, quickly and safely.
Even a half-inch step at a sidewalk joint can trip a child, a delivery driver or an older relative. Sidewalks and walkways sink at the joints, where water finds a way under the slab and washes soil away. Tree roots can also push slabs up, creating the same kind of step from the other direction.
We raise the sunken slab with foam or grout until it is flush with the one beside it, and we check the surface with a straightedge before we finish. Where a root has raised a slab, we look at options, from grinding a small edge to rerouting a walk. Joints are sealed to slow water getting under the slabs again, and the work is done in short visits so your walkway is quickly back in service. Because the work is quick and the equipment is small, we can often finish a whole stretch of walkway in one visit. That matters for busy entrances, shared paths and any place where people walk every day and a trip hazard cannot wait. After the lift, we walk the surface with you and point out any joint that still needs sealing, so you know exactly what was done and what to keep an eye on.
Steps of even a few tenths of an inch can catch a foot. Flush surfaces make walkways safer for everyone.
Homeowners, associations and property managers use leveling to meet safety needs and reduce risk.
Roots may lift slabs. We discuss the options, from grinding to lifting and replacing a section.
Sealed joints keep water from washing out more soil under the slab.
