FAQ

Getting started

Is the estimate really free?

Yes. The visit and the estimate are free and come with no obligation. You approve a written scope and price before any work begins.

What areas do you serve?

Nashville and communities across Middle Tennessee, including Franklin, Brentwood, Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet and more. See the service areas page for the full list.

Do you work for homeowners, builders and businesses?

All three. We work for homeowners, builders, property managers, real estate agents and commercial owners.

What kinds of foundation work do you do?

Crack and wall repair, piers and settlement repair, waterproofing and drainage, crawl space repair and encapsulation, concrete leveling, moisture and air quality work, inspections and planning.

FAQ

Cracks and settlement

Is every crack in a foundation serious?

No. Many hairline cracks are shrinkage. Width, direction and whether a crack is growing tell us which ones need action.

What causes a foundation to settle?

Clay that swells and shrinks, poorly compacted fill, washed-out soil from leaking gutters and plumbing, and tree roots drawing moisture. We look for the cause before we recommend a fix.

Can a sinking house be lifted?

Often much of the drop can be recovered with steel piers, within the limits of the structure. We tell you honestly what is realistic.

FAQ

Water, basements and crawl spaces

Why does my basement leak after heavy rain?

Saturated clay pushes water through cracks, joints and block walls. Drainage, sealing and an interior drain with a sump pump work together to stop it.

What is crawl space encapsulation?

Sealing the floor and walls with a heavy liner, closing the vents and controlling humidity so moisture cannot reach the wood.

Do I need a sump pump?

If water collects at the floor, yes. A sump pump gives it a place to go. We size the pump and recommend a battery backup where it matters.

FAQ

Concrete leveling

Can sunken concrete be lifted instead of replaced?

Yes. Foam or grout injected under the slab fills the void and raises the concrete to level, often in a few hours.

What is the difference between foam and mudjacking?

Foam is light and cures in minutes. Grout is heavier and suits thick slabs and large voids. We explain both and choose what fits.

Will the slab sink again?

If the cause is fixed and the fill is solid, it should stay. Drainage is key.

FAQ

Safety, permits and cost

Do I need a structural engineer?

For large movement, unusual structures and major additions, an engineer is a wise addition, and we coordinate with one. Many repairs do not need one.

Do I need a permit or HOA approval?

Sometimes, for structural work, excavation and exterior changes. We help prepare drawings and paperwork and tell you early what applies.

How do I compare foundation quotes?

Compare written scopes: what is included, the materials, the number of piers or feet of drain, cleanup and what happens if hidden damage is found. Our cost guide explains what drives the price.
