Mold Testing and Remediation

Dark spots on walls, wood or insulation get tested and cleaned, and the moisture that fed them gets fixed so they do not return.

Mold needs three things: moisture, a food source such as wood or drywall and time. Basements and crawl spaces give it all three. A dark patch on a wall, fuzzy white growth on joists or a stubborn musty smell is a sign worth following up. Cleaning the surface alone does not help for long if the damp that fed the growth is still there.

We start by finding the moisture. We use a meter and a camera to see where it is and how it travels, and we can collect samples for laboratory analysis when you want to know more. Cleanup depends on the extent: small areas are cleaned and dried, and damaged materials are removed and replaced. We contain work areas, protect your home and then fix the source, whether a leak, humidity or poor drainage, so the repair lasts.

Find the moisture

We locate the source with a moisture meter and by looking at gutters, walls, floors and plumbing.

Testing when it helps

Air or surface samples sent to a laboratory identify what is growing, which is useful for buyers, renters and sellers.

Careful cleanup

Small areas are cleaned and dried. Badly damaged wood or drywall is removed and replaced.

Stop the return

Drainage, a liner and a dehumidifier keep conditions dry so mold has no reason to come back.

Questions

Mold Testing and Remediation FAQ

How do I know if it is mold?

Dark spots and a musty smell are clues, and lab testing can confirm what is growing.

Is bleach the answer?

Not for porous materials. Cleanup should remove growth and dry the area, and the moisture must be fixed.

Will mold return?

Not if the moisture source is fixed and humidity stays low.

Do I need testing?

Not always. It helps for sales, rentals, or when the cause is unclear.

Is it a health risk?

Mold can bother some people. For health concerns, please see a doctor.
