After heavy rain or flooding, foundations can shift and basements can fill. Here is how to protect your home and plan repairs.
Middle Tennessee gets intense thunderstorms and long stretches of rain, and floods have shown how quickly water can overwhelm a basement or crawl space. Saturated soil pushes harder on walls, water finds every crack and joint, and standing water can wash out soil under footings. Afterward, owners need to dry the space, document the damage and decide what to repair.
We help in that order. First, protect the house and stop more water coming in. Next, document the damage with dated photos and measurements. Then, assess the foundation, floors and walls and recommend repairs, from sealing and drains to supporting walls and footings. We also look at what would prevent a repeat, such as a stronger sump system, drainage and grading, so the next storm is only weather.
